今日、8月7日は、年に一度の「大仏さま お身拭い」でした。
早朝から二月堂の湯屋で身を清めた僧侶やご奉仕者が白装束に藁草履姿で、大仏さまをキレイにする日です。
１年分の埃をキレイに拭ってもらって、大仏さんも気持ち良さそうでした。
東大寺 大仏殿へは、and smiles hostel より徒歩10分～15分。
お身拭いは、7時30分から一般入堂開始です。
Daibutsu-sama Ominugui (wiping of the body of the great Buddha) at Todai-ji Temple on August 7th every year.
Monks and volunteers have a ceremony to purify themselves at a bath in Nigatsudo hall from early morning, and wear white robes and straw sandals to join this wiping ceremony.
Thanks to a big cleaning of body once a year, Great Buddha looked nice and refreshed 🙂
From “and smiles hostel” to Great Buddha’s hall, it is about 10 to 15 minutes on foot.
To see Ominugui: admission fee JPY500 (for adults over junior high school students) and JPY300 (for elementary school students) from 7:30 a.m.
